How much does a website cost in Spain in 2026
If you run a bar, a hair salon or a small practice in Spain and you are wondering how much a website costs, here is the short answer. A simple website for a small business starts at around 10 € a month if you build it yourself with an online tool, and runs from 600 to 3,000 € if you hire a designer or an agency. An online shop or a custom build can cost a lot more. Treat these figures as a guide: every quote depends on what you ask for.
The biggest price driver is not the website itself. It is who builds it and, above all, who changes it afterwards. Below you will find what you are actually paying for, the main options and what to ask before you sign anything.
What you pay for when you pay for a website
A website is made of several parts. Some you pay once, others every month or every year.
- The domain. Your address, for example martasalon.es. A .es or .com domain usually costs between 10 and 20 € a year.
- Hosting. The computer your website lives on so anyone can open it. For a small business there are options from a few euros a month.
- Design and build. Putting the pages together, placing text and photos and making sure it works well on phones.
- Maintenance. Backups, updates and, most of all, changes: summer opening hours, the new menu, a price that went up.
- Extras. Email on your own domain, bookings, a shop, several languages, professional photos.
When you compare, always ask what is included. A 400 € quote with no domain, no hosting and no changes can end up costing more over two years than a 900 € quote that covers everything.
How much does a website cost depending on who builds it
Doing it yourself with a website builder
Wix, Squarespace, Hostinger, Webnode and similar tools give you templates to fill in. Business plans usually sit between 10 and 30 € a month. It is cheap and you are in control. The real cost is your time: what was meant to be one evening turns into several weekends, and if design is not your thing, it shows.
WordPress on your own
WordPress is free, but you pay for hosting, sometimes a theme and a plugin or two. Done yourself, it can cost under 100 € a year. In return, you need to learn how it works and keep it updated, because a neglected WordPress site sooner or later runs into security problems.
A freelance designer
For a brochure site of four or five pages, expect to pay somewhere between 600 and 2,000 €. Then add maintenance: some freelancers charge a monthly fee of 30 to 100 €, others bill each change separately. A good freelancer takes work off your plate, but you depend on them having time when you need something changed.
An agency
Agency quotes usually start at around 2,000 € and can go well past 6,000 €. They normally include more: a look at your competitors, copywriting, photos, search optimisation. It makes sense if you need something custom or if the website is a big part of how you sell.
An online shop
Selling online is a different game. With an e-commerce platform you pay from around 30 € a month, plus the payment provider's fee on every sale. A custom-built shop easily starts at 3,000 €.
An AI website builder
This is the newest option. Instead of filling in a template, you describe what you do and the AI builds a first version with text, sections and design. Then you fine-tune it. Prices are similar to classic builders, but you skip the fight with the template. Taraceista works this way: you describe your business, it builds the site, and to change something you point at that part and say what you want, typed or spoken.
Costs that never make it into the quote
Many business owners only see the real cost of their website in year two. Watch out for these:
- Changes. A restaurant updates its menu, a language school changes timetables every term, a clinic adds a new treatment. If every change goes through someone else, it costs money and days of waiting.
- Renewals. Many deals include the domain or a discounted price for the first year. Check what you pay from the second year on.
- Professional email. Writing from info@yourbusiness.es looks more trustworthy than a free account, and it is almost always charged separately.
- Photos. Stock photos are easy to spot. Good photos of your own premises, even taken on a phone in good light, are worth more than any template.
- Legal pages. In Spain you need a legal notice (aviso legal), a privacy policy and, if you use cookies, a cookie notice. They need to be there and they need to be right.
- Your time. If you build the site yourself, every hour you spend on it is an hour you are not serving customers.
How much should you spend
It depends on what the website is for. A few examples:
- A neighbourhood hair salon in Albacete. It needs services and prices, opening hours, photos, a button to call or message on WhatsApp, and a map. Three or four pages are plenty. No agency needed.
- A restaurant in Valencia. Menu, opening hours, photos and a way to book. What matters most is being able to update the menu without calling anyone. See how it could look in websites for restaurants.
- A lawyer in Madrid. Trust is everything here: who you are, what you specialise in and a contact form. The writing has to be careful. There are examples in websites for lawyers.
- A clothing shop that wants to sell online. That is an online shop, and it has a different budget.
A simple rule: if your website is an extended business card, you do not need to spend thousands. If it is where your sales come from, it is worth investing more.
What to ask before you pay
- Whose name will the domain be registered in? It should be yours.
- Can I take the website with me if I switch provider?
- How much does a change cost and how long does it take?
- What will I pay in the second year, all included?
- Does it work well on phones? Does it include a contact form, a map and the legal pages?
If any answer is vague, ask for it in writing.
How much it costs with Taraceista
To give you a concrete number: the El oficio plan costs 13.50 € a month including VAT, or 135 € a year. It includes one website, 20 changes a month and your own domain for the first year. A change is one full instruction from you, such as "add the summer opening hours and remove the terrace photo", not every click. If you need more changes or several websites, the other plans are on the pricing page. The website is yours and you can download it whenever you like.
Before paying anything, you can try it for 15 days with no card and 15 bonus changes in your first month. That way you know what it would cost and how your site would look. Start here: build your website for free.
